Pocklington School pupils collect hundreds of coats for Harrogate Homeless Project

Over the past few months, Ruby, the Student Head of the Charity Committee, and the entire Pocklington School Charity Committee  have been working hard on a project to support those in need this winter.

Pocklington School pupils collect hundreds of coats for Harrogate Homeless Project

The Charity Committee's aim was to collect winter coats from pupils in Third Year to Upper Sixth, aiming to provide warmth and comfort to the homeless community. Recognizing the urgent need for donations, the committee chose to support the Harrogate Homeless Project, which was desperately seeking winter coats to help with the increased demand of the winter months.

Ruby was invited to spread the word about this meaningful cause by speaking on the local Harrogate Radio station. She spoke about the work that the Pocklington School Charity Committee does to help various charitable causes throughout the academic year.

The Winter Coat Collection was an overwhelming success, with over 150 coats of all shapes and sizes donated by our generous pupils and their families. The response from the school community was truly inspiring, reflecting their compassion and willingness to make a difference. The Harrogate Homeless Project was especially grateful for the tremendous support and the efforts put in by Ruby and the Charity Committee to promote this worthwhile cause.

"I want to send a huge thank you and ask you to pass on our heartfelt appreciation to all your wonderful school community for their generous donations of warm winter coats.
We were overwhelmed by the quality and quantity of the collection, and you can be assured that these will be very gratefully received by our clients now the cold weather has well and truly set in."

The project provided a valuable opportunity for our students to engage in charitable work, enhancing their sense of empathy and social responsibility. We are so grateful to Ruby and the Charity Committee for their work and for setting such a remarkable example of how we can all support our community in these challenging winter months.
