At Pocklington School, we understand the dynamics of modern family life and the importance of balance for our pupils. As such, we have carefully designed our school timetable to cater to both the academic need and wellbeing of our pupils.
A week tailored for learning and wellbeing
Our five-day academic timetable runs from Monday to Friday across a two-week timetable. This allows the curriculum to be covered effectively, whilst providing pupils with the weekend to rest, recuperate and spend quality time with their families. In Week A and Week B, although the timetable changes, the overall structure remains consistent, ensuring a balanced routine.

Our commitment to our Christian foundation is an integral part of life at Pocklington School. As such, Friday mornings hold a special place in our weekly timetable, with pupils attending services at All Saints’ Church, Pocklington. This tradition emphasises our community values and gives time for reflection at the end of a busy school week.
Every pupil enjoys daily access to their tutor, with whom they spend meaningful and productive time. Our bespoke tutor programme is designed to nurture pupils’ wellbeing and personal development.
Enriching experiences
outside the classroom
As well as timetabled games lessons and PE, we have a mid-week and Saturday fixture card, giving pupils the opportunity to represent the School in a number of mainstream sports. Team selection is highly sought after and prized.
Extended lunch breaks offer the perfect time for pupils to explore interests beyond their academic lessons in our extensive range of co-curricular activities and clubs. From music to science clubs, there’s something for everyone.
School holidays open doors to a world of exploration and adventure, with trips, camps, and excursions that span local, national and international destinations. These experiences are invaluable, fostering independence, cultural appreciation and a global perspective.
Recognising the pressures of modern living, we offer flexible arrangements to accommodate the needs of our families. From our free after-school provision in Senior School, to various boarding options, we strive to ease the day-to-day stresses and provide a supportive community for our pupils and their families.
